Proton is lucky. It's lucky because it's Malaysian, and Malaysian made companies are goverment helped and because of that Malaysia put Import Tarrifs(Charging high tax on imported cars). This then causes Malaysian to have very expensive cars!

To prove this here is an example:

High end Waja costs:RM64,888.00

This becomes around 11,000.00 Pounds

This can buy you a Volkswagen Polo or a Honda Jazz!

This are much better cars then proton yet it's the same price!

Another Example:

A Proton Perdana costs RM101,485.55

This is 17,613.00 Pounds

This can buy you a MINI, Audi or BMW.

Why would anyone want to buy a perdana wen they can buy an Audi!!!???

Malaysia protects it's car company too much. What i think they should do is slowly reduce the tariffs slowly but enough so that in a few years there's no more Tariffs. Then I would like to see how the proton does. Ofcourse it's not a simple as that. But, Just imagine what we could of had......WITHOUT Proton!!
